Todays multimedia pursuits represent a completly different world from that of just 20 years ago. Twenty years ago internet users persisted on 56k(dial up) download speeds. While today 88% of internet users have high speed connections with rates of up to 12,000kbs downloads and at least 300+kbs upload speeds.

If you are to consider an online presence you must consider whether you will employ streaming video on your site. All search engines give video priority over text and pictures. With that consideration in mind it behooves the small business owner to make sure video is included.

Other ways to employ video to promote your site is to use the public video sites. One warning: once you submit your site to youtube or google video you waive your rights to ownership of the video clip submitted. These sites are only worth using if they are being used as a promotional or informational tool only. With that in mind do not submit videos that you wish to sell or provide as a value add product.
